WC26 Ranked

How it works

A crowd-ranked, just-for-fun rating of 2026 World Cup players.

โ–ถ๏ธ How to play

  1. Sign in (free) so your votes and supervotes follow you.
  2. You're shown two players, and you tap your favorite. That's a vote.
  3. A new pair loads instantly. Keep going as long as you like. Not sure about either? Just skip.
  4. Tap the ๐Ÿ”ฅ on a card to spend a supervote, a stronger pick that also pushes that player up the Hype board.
  5. Check the Leaderboard any time to see who's on top, search for a player, or filter by team, club or position.
  6. Build your own World Cup XI from your picks, a personal best eleven you can share.

๐Ÿ”Ž Icons & features at a glance

A quick reference for the symbols and tools you'll see around the app.

On player cards & the board

  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Supervote: tap it on a card to spend a supervote (a stronger pick). It also pushes that player up the Hype board.
  • โญ Top 10: marks a player currently in the top 10 of the Crowd ranking.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Stats: opens the player's Wikipedia article (career stats & honours).
  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Photos: opens Google Images to see more pictures of the player.
  • โ–ฒ / โ–ผ Rank movement: on the leaderboard, how many places a player has moved since you last looked.

On the leaderboard

  • Crowd vs Hype: two boards. Crowd is the main ranking, built from every vote. Hype is ranked only by ๐Ÿ”ฅ supervotes.
  • โš™ Filters โ†’ Show: All players shows everyone, while Established ranks only hides players without enough votes for a reliable rank. The same popover filters by position, team and club.
  • Search: find anyone by name to see their true global position, even if they're outside the shown ranks.

Make it yours (the โ˜ฐ menu)

  • โšฝ Teams: Follow or Hide squads (see "Your teams" below).
  • Appearance: switch between light and dark mode, and recolour the whole app with the ๐ŸŽจ Palette picker, choosing FIFA colours or any of the national-team palettes.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ How voting works

You're shown two players at a time. Tap the one you'd pick as your favorite, and that counts as one vote. A new pair loads instantly, so you can keep going as long as you like.

Not sure about either? Just skip to the next pair. Nothing is recorded unless you actually pick someone.

๐Ÿ† The leaderboard is global

There's one shared leaderboard for everyone. Every vote from every player around the world feeds the same board. Your votes help decide the global ranking, and the ranking you see is the same one everyone else sees.

A player's score reflects how often fans pick them head-to-head against others, not simply how many times they've been shown.

๐Ÿค” Why some players aren't on the board yet

A player only appears on the public leaderboard once they've had enough votes for their rank to be trustworthy. Until then they're still in the voting pool. They're simply held back from the board, so that a single lucky or unlucky matchup can't crown or sink anyone.

You can always find anyone by searching their name on the leaderboard, which shows their true global position even if they're outside the top ranks.

โšฝ Your teams

Open the โšฝ Teams menu to tailor which players you see. It has two tabs, Follow and Hide, and you can pick up to 15 teams in each.

Follow the national teams you support and you'll see only players from those squads, so both faces in every matchup come from your teams.

Follow one team to rank your own squad. Every matchup pairs two players from that single team, so you're deciding who you rate most in it.

Follow exactly 2 teams for a Faceoff. When you follow just two squads, every matchup becomes a head to head between them, one player from each side, so it's your two teams going up against each other, big names included. Follow 3 or more and you see a mix from all of them as usual.

Nothing is locked in. You can switch between your teams and all teams at any time while you're playing. There's a toggle right on the voting screen, so you can flip back and forth as often as you like.

Prefer not to see certain squads? Use the Hide tab and their players simply won't appear in your matchups at all. A team can't be both followed and hidden, and hiding only affects your pairs. It never changes the global leaderboard.

Once the knockouts begin, an ๐Ÿ† Exclude knocked out teams switch appears on the voting screen. By default you see all teams; turn it on to hide squads that have been knocked out, so you only vote on teams still in the tournament, right down to just the two finalists at the end. It's optional and sits on top of your Follow/Hide picks.

Each tab has a Clear all link to wipe that list in one tap, and you can update your teams anytime (handy as squads get knocked out and you want to back someone new). Either way, your votes always count toward the same global board.

๐Ÿ† Your World Cup XI

Every player you pick also builds your own World Cup XI, a personal best eleven in a 4ยท3ยท3, ranked only from your votes. Open it from the โ˜ฐ menu or the link on the voting screen.

It fills in as you vote: a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, each spot going to your top rated player in that position. Vote more to complete it, then share your XI as an image.

Your XI is private to you and completely separate from the global board. It never changes the crowd ranking, and it's built from votes you already cast, so nothing extra is collected.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Supervotes & the Hype board

A normal vote nudges the main Crowd ranking. A ๐Ÿ”ฅ supervote is a special pick that also counts toward the separate Hype board, a second leaderboard ranked purely by the players fans care about most.

Think of it as getting behind a player in the moment: if someone played a blinder today or you just really want to back them, drop a ๐Ÿ”ฅ to hype them up the board. A normal vote answers "which of these two is your favorite?" A supervote says "this player deserves a shout right now."

Supervotes are free. You get a fresh batch every day, earn +2 more for every 20 votes you cast, and pick up extra when friends you invite join and vote. They're just for fun and don't change the fairness of the main Crowd ranking.

โœ… Fair play

You can vote on any given pair once, so the board reflects lots of people's opinions rather than one person clicking repeatedly. Voting requires a free account.

๐Ÿ™‹ About the players & photos

Only adult players (18+ for the whole tournament) are included, and we only use freely-licensed photos, so the framing isn't always perfect, and some players don't have a usable photo and won't appear. It's a light-hearted project celebrating the tournament, nothing more.
